The phenomenon of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture

The phenomenon of pianist-composer in Ukrainian musical culture, considered retrospect, is studied. Its consideration allows to fully understand the place and role creative instrumental performance artists both history culture Ukraine terms development Europe.
 purpose article. To make a systematic review XIX-XXI centuries, contribution musicians into art composition (instrument — piano).
 methodology. Interdisciplinary approach has been applied, within which there an appeal cultural, art, psychological, historical, etc., scientific principles; we used activity-structural method direction research personality (pianist-composer), cultural-historical analysis (activity historical significance creativity culture); applied intonation, genre-style text-interpretation methods that contribute adequate assessment results process field performance; biography source studies aspect assessing importance pianists-composers.
